What is
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a very effective treatment for maintaining the health of your skin. It helps improve almost any type of skin problem and reduces the signs of skin aging, yet is gentle enough for even sensitive skin. Microdermabrasion promotes a constant stimulation of cell renewal by the process of removing the excess dead skin cells from the top layer of the epidermis. This method for rejuvenating skin on the face and neck can improve fine wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, soften acne scars, and reduce enlarged pores.
Micronized (very fine) crystals derived from minerals are used to remove dead and flaking skin cells. In the hands of an experienced technician, an instrument directs this stream of crystals onto the skin and as the skin cells are abraded, a small vacuum removes the crystals along with the upper, outermost layer of the skin. This results in the production of collagen and new skin cells.
Microdermabrasion has been found to improve many unsightly surface conditions that have previously required several different treatments. As a result, microdermabrasion requires less time and less discomfort. Recovery time is rapid and any normal activities can be resumed immediately. Microdermabrasion is safe and effective on most parts of the body and if desired can be used in conjunction with other procedures as well. Some skin improvements include the removal and reduction of age spots, diminishing of wrinkles and fine lines, removal of blackheads and whiteheads, reduction of acne scars, improvement of dull and rough skin, and fresher, younger looking skin.
This procedure has been performed successfully on people of all skin types and colors. The average treatment is usually completed in fifteen minutes to a half hour. Microdermabrasion treatments can be repeated every two weeks, indefinitely. The number of treatments vary depending on the skin problem and results desired.
